Position: PR & Communication Manager / Assistant Manager

About us
Cristóbal Balenciaga founded the House in 1917 in his home of Spain. In 1937, he established the Founded by Spanish-born Cristóbal Balenciaga in 1917 and established in Paris in 1937, the original house of Balenciaga defined modern couture with its many innovations to form and technique. Since his appointment as artistic director in 2015, Demna continues to uphold the vision of Balenciaga through boundary-pushing collections, which have expanded to include women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, accessories, and objets d’art. The brand’s unprecedented interactions with the expanding digital realm, material developments, and today’s social responsibilities keep it at the forefront of modernity. In 2021, Demna designed Balenciaga’s 50th couture collection—the house’s first since its founder retired in 1968 - reintroducing a standard of cutting-edge elegance.
We are currently seeking a PR professional who will report to the PR & Communication Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following, other duties may be assigned:
- Maintain and develop a strong relationship with existing, new media and related press to increase and maximize media coverage and enhancing brand image following the global direction including print, digital, social media.
- Plan and execute advertorials following regional Director instructions
- Plan and execute local communication calendar in timely manner for PR activities (brand, product, event & corporate), preparing assets, creating press releases, pitching to media, managing proof readings
- Manage press showroom conditions and samples
- Manage weekly press and activity reporting
- Daily communication with HQ and other departments for various PR matters
- Plan and execute PR related events together with the team such as seasonal press days, branding and related retail events.
- Continuous researching on and developing relationship with KOL, influencers.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Strong interest and passion toward Balenciaga
- +5 years of proven experience in public relations and media communication within luxury or fashion industry, PR agency, or fashion editor experience
- Extensive knowledge and network of different types of media
- Excellent teamwork and a strong sense of responsibility
- Resourceful and can balance well multiple projects at different stages in the process
- Possess communication skills, proactive and strong problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in both Japanese and English
- A bachelor’s degree or above in or outside of Japan
- Proficiency in MS Office (word, excel, PPT) applications
